PEN

Peruvian Sol

PEN is the official currency of Peru. The name 'sol' means both 'solid' (from Latin solidus) and 'sun' in Spanish, connecting to Peru's Incan heritage.

The sol was reintroduced in 1991, replacing the inti. It is issued by the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (Banco Central de Reserva del Perú) and is subdivided into 100 céntimos. The sol is known for its stability compared to many other Latin American currencies.
