SWIFT Code

A SWIFT code is an 8 or 11-character code that uniquely identifies banks and financial institutions worldwide. Unlike routing numbers, these codes are used for international payments.

SWIFT codes are the same as BIC codes. The terms are used interchangeably. When sending money internationally, you'll need the recipient bank's SWIFT code along with the IBAN or account number to ensure the funds are routed correctly. Verify any SWIFT code with our free SWIFT code checker before sending an international transfer.
