XLS
Excel Binary Spreadsheet
XLS is the legacy Microsoft Excel spreadsheet format used before XLSX. It stores data in a binary structure and is still encountered in older financial reports and exports.
XLS files have lower row and column limits than XLSX and can be more prone to corruption. Most modern spreadsheet tools can open and convert XLS files to newer formats, including with our Excel to CSV converter when you need a text export. Most modern tools use XLSX, including bettercurrency.app's bank statement converter.
