MAD

Moroccan Dirham

MAD is the official currency of Morocco. It is issued by Bank Al-Maghrib and is subdivided into 100 santimat.

The dirham was reintroduced in 1960, replacing the Moroccan franc. It operates within a fluctuation band of ±5% against a basket weighted 60% euro and 40% US dollar. The dirham is a closed currency and cannot be obtained outside Morocco.
