Sort Code
A sort code is a 6-digit number used for domestic transfers in the United Kingdom which identifies the bank and the branch where a bank account is held. It's used for BACS and CHAPS payments.
Sort codes are formatted as three pairs of digits (e.g., 12-34-56). When making UK bank transfers, you'll need both the sort code and account number to identify the recipient. Sort codes are not used for international transfers.
